Primary Guide

Ms. Zhang was born and raised in Harbin, a beautiful city in Northeast China, and comes from a long line of musicians. After six years studying professionally in double bass at a school affiliated with the Central Conservatory of Music, she decided to come to the United States for new musical adventures. In 2013, she graduated from Bard College in New York State with a full scholarship and earned double bachelor degrees in Asian history and music in double bass performance. She continued to complete both her master’s and doctoral degrees in music at the University of Texas at Austin, and she had rich experiences in teaching and performing music during her school years.


Prior to joining our school, Ms. Zhang taught first and second grade Chinese at MorningStar Learning Center for two years. Working with young children, she found a strong interest and passion in teaching Chinese literacy. Ms. Zhang has a friendly personality, full of patience and a sense of responsibility. She focuses on enlightening all students to embrace their different interests with enthusiasm. Her teaching philosophy is marked by a desire to expand students’ knowledge and provide a comforting environment that encourages creativity during the process of learning.
