Ms. Sarah

Program Director, Elementary Guide

Ms. Sarah Chandler was born and raised in northern Michigan where she grew up swimming and boating on the Great Lakes in summer and skiing and ice skating during the winter months.

Ms. Sarah has numerous years of teaching experience as well as administrative experience and teacher education. She has also been a Montessori parent. These varied experiences have given her a unique perspective.

She spent all of her life in Michigan except for a brief time in the Bay Area, which was cut short by the pandemic. Ms. Sarah moved to Austin in the fall of 2021. She enjoys the diverse culture and exciting events the city has to offer.

Ms. Sarah holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Art Education from Western Michigan University and a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Central Michigan University. She believes that Montessori education can be melded with current research-based educational practices.

Ms. Sarah has been a Montessorian all of her adult life. She earned an American Montessori Society (AMS) 3-6 credential in 1993, an AMS 6-9 credential in 1996, and an AMS 9-12 credential in 2014. During the fall of 2022, Ms. Sarah took training for 0-3 from the Center for Guided Montessori Studies.

Ms. Sarah believes that Montessori education can unlock the potential of all children. She has seen the results of her own time teaching as many of her former students are now successful adults.

When Ms. Sarah is not working on curriculum, she can be found snuggled up with a good mystery novel, doing yoga, or creating her own artwork using acrylics or textiles.
